Fire & Water - Cleanup & Restoration

Ft Worth Insulation Vacuum Making it "Like It Never Happened"

Blown in insulation is an excellent product to keep your home warm in Winter and cool in Summer. The fiberglass and cellulose material prevents air from escaping through your roof and helps lower heating and cooling bills year-round. When it becomes compromised, the only smart step to take is to remove and replace it.

As you see in the video, we use a state of the art, commercial vacuum and flexible hoses to get into the crawlspace. It is the most efficient method to remove the insulation and also prevent spreading the material throughout your home. You can see it works quickly with only minimal amounts remaining that require removal by hand. Not seen on this video is that the material collects outside the home in a thick, plastic bag for disposal.

Insulation usually becomes compromised from two sources; water or animal urine and feces. Both factors weigh down and compress the insulation into flattened clumps of material. When there is no space between the fibers to trap the air, it becomes worthless to heat and cool your home. The effect is roughly the same as filling your crawlspace with wet newspaper.

Water compromise normally comes from rain getting under the roof and going unnoticed until the electricity bill starts climbing. Compromise from animal urine and feces takes longer, but the result is the same. The only way to prevent this is to perform regular inspections of the attic and crawlspaces.

After removing the insulation, we clean and dry the area before replacing the insulation. If there is animal urine present, we spray every surface with an anti-bacterial chemical that kills dangerous organisms on contact. For insulation compressed by water, it may not be necessary to clean the area, but we do test the humidity level in the attic or crawlspace to prevent mold growth.

Each step we take to remove and replace contaminated insulation or to clean up after any damage is to get you back in your home faster. For more information about what SERVPRO of Northeast Ft.
